What Is the Best Push Speader for Large Yards?
A push seed spreader is an excellent tool for anyone who needs to plant a large yard or garden, especially in hard-to-reach areas. The purpose of this article is to help you find the best push seed spreader to use for your specific needs and budget.
There are two main types of push seed spreaders:
Drop spreaders
These have a built-in hopper that holds the seeds, and they usually come with an adjustable knob to control how fast the seeds drop. These are best for people who want to cover large areas quickly because you can simply put all your seeds in at once, set it on low speed, and go.
Rotary spreaders
These require manually feeding individual seeds into the top one by one, then pushing or rotating them across the lawn or garden area. For smaller yards, these are ideal because you can accurately plant specific spots instead of wasting lots of seedsby missing sections of your yard.
Generally speaking, rotary spreaders are more expensive than drop spreaders, so you can expect to spend less if you go with a drop spreader.
Manual push spreader (no power required). With this type of push seed spreader, all you do is pour in your seeds, close it up tightly, and start pushing back and forth until you’ve completely covered the area with seeds (or at least made several passes). The main advantage of this type is that it requires no power or batteries.
Manual push spreader with a power source (no batteries required) This type is the same as above, except that since you’re using a corded electric motor to power the seed dispenser, you have the option of using it plugged in where you need it, or unplugged so you don’t have to drag an electric cord around with you when you want to seed your flower beds or fence lines.
Power Seed Spreader (battery powered) These are excellent if you have large yards and gardens because they require no cords at all, which means there’s nothing for you to trip on when walking through your yard. They only work when they’re running on battery power, which is why you only need to use them for about an hour at a time before replacing or recharging the batteries.

Ok i read the reviews and saw the only negative reviews on here were from how the wheels collect whatever your spreading.. so I read a review from one lady putting a baking tin on the wheels, I saw the pics, so I once upped her, used the cardboard that this came in, nothing but a marker, snips, and pulling the wheels off.. works perfect.

Review:
This is a substantially built product. It bears little resemblance to the flimsy broadcast spreaders sold in the nursery departments of large chain stores. Assembly was a snap. I had barely finished my second beer when my wife tightened the last bolt. I then rushed to my local lawn supply store and picked up 5 bags of fertilizer. Settling into my porch swing with my third, I was amazed at how easily the little woman glided the spreader across our expansive lawn. Proper volume settings were apparently easy to accomplish as lawn, fertilizer and adult beverages ran out at the same time. Clean up took just a few minutes. I am well pleased with this product.

Great product as far as quality goes. Fast shipping and easy to deal with!
However…. The instructions are vague and parts # are not labeled the same in instruction manual as they are in the parts bag.. example: (H4 screws and nuts in manual = M6 in the parts bag) definitely need to be more clear and detailed….I also had to grind down a part in order for it to fit properly. All that being said, I would still buy this product again

A little challenge to assemble. Not quite sure that I have it calibrated correctly with the dial on the back of the spreader. Would prefer better instructions on how to set the base so that the calibration is set correctly. It is a very solid and quality product but the price seem high compared to others in the market. At this point I have used the spreader and I think it should serve me for a long time.

It’s a good spreader for the money. Covers a wide spread and rolls easy with the air-filled tires. Holds a lot of material. Hopper opening is plastic so time will tell how well it holds up.
6. The Andersons Yard Star Walk-Behind Broadcast Spreader
Review:
Easy to put together. A little tricky to set up so it does not stick in closed position, but you can make the minor adjustment for it to work fine after set up. I use many types of product and don’t necessarily have exact setting, and do not get into spending the time calculating this. But it does spread nice and good width. Just have to do a little guessing. Rolls nice and taller than box store brands, which hurt my back and just did not have the build quality and kept breaking.
